World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the upgrade type it could boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity, and also boost other stats.
Upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a specified number of Flightstones and Crests Each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a set amount.
Item Level
The value of an item's base stats increases as it is upgraded. This is the sum of all its upgraded advantages (attack, magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high, depending on the upgrader and what type of upgrade you choose to make. This is due to the fact that many perks have to be replaced to allow the item to get upgraded.
It is also used to enforce gating requirements when queueing for raids, dungeons and scenarios. It can also be used to limit how much PvP gear players are able to wear, since PvP is limited at lower levels. The average item level can be found on the character sheet.
When deciding whether to purchase or sell equipment players can look at the item level. It's a good indicator of the quality of an item and the amount of damage it is capable of dealing with. Comparing items in a vendor's stock can be done using the item level.
The item level can be seen by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will show the full description of the item, including its value. It is also accessible by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel into chat.
There are many theories about how the level of an item is determined. One theory states that the item level is determined by a formula that calculates how valuable the stats of an item really are. item upgrade considers the fact that different perks have different worth and gems in sockets add to the overall value of the item. This could result in an item's ilvl calculated, which is often very close to Blizzard's actual level of the item.
It's not the only factor that affects the value of an item. The degree of the area in which the item dropped can also change its stats. For example it can add a level to the item's haste or crit score. Items dropped in higher-level instances will have a higher ilvl.
Item Stats
The stats of an item can determine the fate of an item for players. The game makes use of them in a variety of ways to encourage players to not restrict themselves to a particular weapon and to motivate them to try out other weapons. The stat mods of weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then enhanced by the player's level.
Upgrades to an item can increase its stats. The rarity of an item determines the cost of upgrading. For instance, a gray or white item can only be upgraded once, while an item with rare tiers can be upgraded many times at higher prices.
Another method of altering the stats on an item is through affixes. They are stat boosters that can be added by the player to an item. Affixes can provide the item extra damage, add a special capability to the item (such as reviving dead or reducing cooldowns) or make the item unique by putting an additional name to the item.
At present, all affixes can be rerolled by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button with circling arrows. This process will cost the player a certain amount of gold as well as items that can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as the other options for rerolling.
In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may also choose which of the available stats to keep on an item when it is upgraded. The range of stats determined by the item's level. However each item will contain at least one stat in the range, unless they are a unique item or a God Roll from a boss in a raid.
This is another aspect that could be changed by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes, or selecting which stats to boost. Similar to the base equipment, it would have to be done per item, and the item comparison interface would not display all the possible stats simultaneously.
Item Luck
The Luck stat for a player adds up to increase the likelihood of item discoveries as well as the properties that appear on loot drops and the intensity of these properties. However, it doesn't directly affect damage or ability to upgrade item s. It gives players the chance to upgrade their gear earlier in the game. This is more useful in early game runs since players tend to prioritize defenses and weapon scaling over raw damage gains.
In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the probability of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade probability that increases with each level and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.
Armor, shields, and weapons have a default Luck value of 40. These items can be augmented by using golden ingots or spined leather (depending on their material type) for a further +40 luck or to boost an item's existing Luck up to 140.
Moreover, certain items, like the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow can be used to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items are available in the shop, or they can be constructed using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Upgrades to items are costly and not all upgrades will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chances of success for an upgrade or to prevent players from losing their items if it does not work.
When you upgrade an item, the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage is the probability of successfully upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special Materials. The probability of success can only be increased as high, and the probability that an upgrade will fail can't exceed 100%.
The performance of an can be affected by the luck of the item. Every item has an average success rate of 25%, and each item that has Luck increases the chance of success by five percent.
It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the inventory items therefore enchantment glints and other effects may be masked by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
